The Haunting of Hill House
Purple Box Theater
1305 West Parkwood Friendswood
Stephen King considers The Haunting of Hill House one of the top three horror novels ever written. He isn't alone in his (terrified) admiration: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, even the notoriously picky Dorothy Parker, all praised Shirley Jackson's novella as the quintessential haunted house story, never to be out-done or out-spooked. Now after two film versions, The Haunting of Hill House has been adapted for the stage and comes to Purple Box Theater in Friendswood. Hoping to find "proof" of the supernatural, Dr. Montague rents Hill House, an abandoned mansion with a creepy reputation, and invites a select number of guests to join him there. Quickly, however, their stay goes horrifically awry.
